NSMT Semi Finals
NSMT semi finals are the final exams of the National Scholarship and Management Training (NSMT) for students who want to study in the field of business. NSMT is a government-owned institution that trains young people in various fields of business. It was established in 1973 to train individuals in the area of business, management, and law. It has become the largest training institute for professionals in Nigeria. This is why the number of NSMT graduates continues to grow.
St Augustine’s College
Having beaten Osei Tutu SHS and Ghana National College, St Augustine’s College finally made it to the NSMQ Semi-Finals. They will now face off with defending champions Adisadel College. Their performance may just make them the GHC/3,000 cash prize winners.
The NSMQ is a nerve-wracking contest, with more schools vying for the top spot than ever before. This year, the finalists will be decided from eight of the nine Zones – Western, Northern, Bono-Ahafo, Central, Eastern, Volta-Oti and South-Eastern. In addition, 108 winning schools from the regional rounds, and 27 seeded schools, have been selected to compete.
The 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz will be held at KNUST on October 26. The grand finale will feature former champions and a who’s who of the senior high school maths and science community. The winner of the contest will be crowned the unofficial national champ.
The NSMQ has been a great way to promote interest in the study of science and mathematics among girls. It is also a fun and exciting competition. A special department has been set up at the school to prepare students for the national contests.
Prempeh College
Having won five titles in a row, Prempeh College is back in the National Science and Maths Quiz Semi-Finals for the sixth time. They are in a position to win the trophy on Ashanti soil for the first time. In fact, they have the chance of equaling the record held by Presec Legon.
During the competition, Prempeh College won four trophies. Their 61 points proved that they had a good grasp of the subject. During the semifinals of the competition, they beat Mfantsipim School. However, they fell short of beating Abetifi Presbyterian SHS.
During the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz, Prempeh College qualified for the finals. They will face Adisadel College in the final. The former was crowned champion in the 2016 contest.
The other two schools in the semi-finals were Mfantsipim and Abetifi. Both schools were in a mixed school competition. While Mfantsipim was the only female team, the other was dominated by males.
Adisadel College
During the National Science and Maths Quiz, Adisadel College emerged as winners of the competition. In addition, they received two academic awards. The Ackah-Hagan Award for the most disciplined student and the Awotwi Maths Prize.
The NSMQ is a national competition that brings together Senior High Schools in the country. It’s a brain teaser, and a great way to display bragging rights. However, the NSMQ is not a single contest, it is a series of events that culminates in a championship.
The NSMQ is held every year, and it is hosted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The most impressive fact about the competition is that it takes place annually. This year’s competition will take place on October 26, 2022. During the event, participants will test their knowledge on the subject of maths and science, as well as other subjects, in a bid to win the top prize.
Opoku Ware
Earlier this year, the Opoku Ware Senior High School of Kumasi made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition. The school was one of the 32 schools that took part in the competition. The contest was sponsored by Absa Ghana, Prudo Life Insurance, Dano Milk, and Newmont. The schools were divided into the northern and southern regions of Ghana, and they were brought to Accra for the finals.
The first round saw Opoku Ware win against Boa Amponsem SHS. The second round saw the school beat Adventist SHS, Bantama. The third round saw the school defeat Keta SHTS and Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS). The fourth round saw the school defeat Accra Academy. The fifth round saw the school tie with Mawuli School at 44 points each. The final round saw the school win with 42 points.
In the quarter-finals, the Opoku Ware school defeated Oda SHS. The Mawuli school, however, defeated the OLA SHS. In the tie breaker, the Opoku Ware school answered the breaker question wrong, but won the tie. The Opoku Ware school won the first trophy of the NSMQ. The school will now face Augusco and Adisco in the semi-finals on Sunday.
